Britney Spears’ lawyer Mathew Rosengart is ‘moving aggressively’ to remove her father as conservator
Britney Spears’ lawyer Mathew Rosengart is putting his best foot forward to free the pop star from her 13-year conservatorship.
“As I said in court last week and outside, my firm and I are moving aggressively and expeditiously to file a petition to remove Jamie Spears unless he resigns first,” Rosengart told reporters outside Los Angeles courthouse on July 19, per multiple outlets.
“I once again want to thank Britney Spears for her courage and for her strength,” he said. “I want to thank Judge [Brenda] Penny for her courtesy in welcoming my firm and I into this case.”
Rosengart was hired to represent Britney last week after she made an emotional plea for the judge to remove her father from her conservatorship.
“I’m here to get rid of my dad and charge him with conservatorship abuse,” she told the court. “I want him investigated… This conservatorship has allowed my dad to ruin my life.”
Britney confirmed she’d chosen Rosengart as her own lawyer, and stated she wants her temporary conservator, Jodi Montgomery, to remain on the case.

Rosengart has already called for the singer’s father to voluntarily resign, which he said, would be in the best interest of his client.
“This is not working. What is supposed to be at the heart of this has been lost,” Rosengart said.
Britney celebrated Rosengart’s appointment in a recent Instagram post, where she also proudly used the hashtag #FreeBritney.
“Coming along, folks…. coming along 🖕🏻!!!!! New with real representation today,” she captioned an Instagram video of her doing cartwheels.
“I feel GRATITUDE and BLESSED !!!! Thank you to my fans who are supporting me … You have no idea what it means to me be supported by such awesome fans !!!! God bless you all !!!!! Pssss this is me celebrating by horseback riding and doing cartwheels today !!!! #FreeBritney.”
