Dr. Dre remains in ICU a week after brain aneurysm, doctors still trying to work out the cause
According to TMZ, doctors are running several tests to determine the cause of the aneurysm and prevent the possibility of another one. Sources also say that despite the music mogul telling his fans that he is “doing great” and will be out of hospital soon, Dre has been in intensive care at Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles since he was first taken there.
Sources added that Dre, 55, is currently resting and his family have been informed that there isn’t looking to be any “bad outcome” overall.
Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, was reportedly rushed by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s intensive care unit on Monday, where TMZ reported that the hip hop star is in a “stable and lucid condition.”
Last week, Dre’s home was the target of an attempted burglary. Four people were arrested in Los Angeles last Wednesday night after a pursuit that followed a break-in attempt at his home.
According to LA radio station KABC, police found burglary tools, saws and crowbars in the suspects’ car following the pursuit. The outlet added that the individuals were unable to break into Dre’s home, therefore nothing was stolen.
The prolific producer is widely regarded as one of the top earners in hip-hop and the music industry and is estimated to be worth US$800 million (approx. $1.03 billion). He is currently in divorce proceedings from his estranged wife Nicole Young after 24 years of marriage.
A hearing on spousal support and their prenuptial support was set for last Wednesday, in which Dre agreed to pay Nicole Young US$2 million (approx. $3.2 million) in temporary spousal support to cover her living expenses.
The judge ruled to continue the divorce until April to give Dre time to recover.
