Kim Kardashian says she owes ex Kris Humphries an apology for ending marriage after just 72 days

Kim Kardashian has revealed she tried to smooth things over with her ex-husband, Kris Humphries, but he wasn’t interested.

In a Keeping Up With the Kardashians reunion special, the reality star said she ran into her ex at the Beverly Hills Hotel in recent years and when she went to say hello, he snubbed her. At the time, she was with her daughter North, now eight, and pregnant with her son, Saint, now five.

“I saw him and all of his friends got up from the table, we had the tables next to each other,” she told host Andy Cohen. “All of his friends got up and said ‘hi’ to me and he literally just looked at me and like wouldn’t even speak to me.”

Kardashian also said she tried to call Humphries, a 36-year-old retired NBA player, many times to tell him she was sorry how their marriage ended in 2011 after just 72 days. They were officially divorced in 2013, with their divorce taking longer than their entire union.

“I tried calling him for months,” the 40-year-old revealed.

Elsewhere in the reunion special, Kardashian — who went on to marry Kanye West in 2014 — admitted she could’ve handled the divorce better.

“I was so nervous to break up with someone. I handled it totally the wrong way,” she said. “I fully broke up with him in the worst way and I couldn’t — I just didn’t know how to deal. I learned so much from it.”

In his divorce filing, Humphries cited “fraud” as his reason for the split, which Kardashian explained had to do with his “faith-based” upbringing, not because she allegedly tricked him into airing their wedding on TV for a multimillion-dollar deal.

To cite fraud would have allowed the marriage to be annulled as Humphries did not want it “on his record”, Kardashian explained.

“If I was mature, I would have wanted the annulment too. I wish I was only married once,” she said.

On why she went ahead with the wedding despite having reservations the night before, she said: “I thought, ‘OK, everyone, you know, we’re filming this for a TV show. If I leave, I’m going to be known as the runaway bride forever and it’s going to be a huge joke.'”

Humphries was Kardashian’s second husband. She eloped with music producer Damon Dash in 2000 but they divorced in 2004. The reality star then married Humphries in 2011 before she began dating West in 2013.

Earlier this year, after six years of marriage and four children, Kardashian filed for divorce from the rapper.
