Mandy Moore says she’s feeling ‘utter gratitude’ after welcoming her first child August Harrison Goldsmith

Mandy Moore is in love with her new baby boy.

The actress, 36, recently welcomed her first child, son August Harrison Goldsmith, with her husband Taylor Goldsmith. She’s now given a sweet update on how she’s feeling “utter gratitude” since becoming a mother.

“Still processing how Gus’s birth unfolded with utter gratitude for my body, my support team and the journey our sweet boy took to meet us,” Moore captioned a black-and-white photo of her baby.

The photo was taken by Moore’s “magnificent” doula, Carson Meyer.

In an interview on the Informed Pregnancy Podcast, Moore said how she’d originally wanted a home birth but changed her plans.

She mentioned the “fantastic” doulas and said she “felt so immediately sold on this team that we had assembled, and from very early on in pregnancy, had them both on this journey with us.”

Moore said an issue involving a drop in her platelets meant she ruled out a home birth.

“My platelets have been dropping throughout pregnancy and it’s something I never thought about until I got, I’d say early to midway through my third trimester, they sort of started dropping pretty precipitously and fell below the threshold that would make it possible for me to do a home birth,” Moore said.

On February 24, Moore announced the happy news that August had arrived “right on his due date.”

“Gus is here,” Moore wrote in an Instagram post along with a photo. “He was punctual and arrived right on his due date much to the delight of his parents.”

She added they never expected to “fall in love in all sorts of brand new ways, but it goes beyond anything we could have ever imagined.”

Moore announced her pregnancy last September, with her husband who she married in 2018.
