Twilight director addresses possibility of a Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson reunion for Midnight Sun
The director of the first Twilight movie, Catherine Hardwicke, has addressed the possibility of making another film in the franchise.
Hardwicke didn’t rule out the idea of turning the new Stephanie Meyer book Midnight Sun into another film. The new novel is the same Twilight story, except told from Edward Cullen’s perspective.
“I think a re-cut would be difficult, because we did stay a lot more in Bella’s head,” she told ET. “It would be another film, which would be fun. It would be fascinating.”
“Rob is Batman now… and Kristen is in a million beautiful projects,” she said. “Who knows what would happen.”
Stewart, who is known for being tight-lipped about her private life, talked candidly with Howard Stern in November last year about falling in love with her former Twilight co-star.
“We were together for years, that was my first [love],” the 30-year-old said on The Howard Stern Show.
Stewart — who is currently dating screenwriter Dylan Meyer — reflected on her romance with Pattinson and the chance that it would have ended in marriage.
“Was there a point you would’ve gotten married? Do you think?” Stern asked.
“I don’t know,” Stewart replied. “I wanted to… Yeah, no, I’ve never been in…”
“If he proposed, you would’ve gotten married?” Stern repeated.
“I don’t know,” Stewart responded. “I’m not a super duper traditionalist, but at the same time… every relationship I’ve ever been in, I thought that was it. I’ve never really been the most casual person.”
Pattinson and Stewart split in 2012 after she was caught having an affair with film director Rupert Sanders. She briefly got back together with Pattinson but they ultimately called it quits in 2013. Sanders was married to model Liberty Ross at the time, and the couple divorced in 2014.
